Norstead were appointed to carry out full M&E services excluding (BMS, Data and Sprinklers) installation for a new intraocular lens manufacturing facility in Worthing.
The works comprised of but were not limited to the following:
- Ventilation and close control air conditioning systems for Clean Rooms, production areas, offices, kitchen, restaurant and general circulation areas.
- Steam generation
- CHP plant
- Mechanical heating, cooling and refrigeration system
- FCU System to offices and restaurant
- Hot and cold water supply systems
- Process hot and cold water systems
- Compressed air plant and distribution
- Specialist extract systems
- Natural gas supply systems
- Rainwater and above ground foul drainage systems
- LV switchgear and electrical distribution systems
- Fully addressable DALI lighting control system and addressable monitored and self-test central battery emergency lighting and signage systems
- General security – communications, access control, intruder detection and alarm systems, fire detection and alarm systems
This project was procured via a single stage competitive bidding process.
The scheme was a heavily serviced building with many technical and spatial problems that were largely overcome due to the benefits of a Revit MEP Model that was developed into a workable solution.
